1995 United Kingdom "End of The Second World War" Silver Proof Standard Two-Pound Coin.
This superb coin weighs 15.98 grammes, measures 28.40 in diameter, and struck in sterling silver. The new reverse design created by John Mills beautifully depicts mankind's desire for a peaceful world featuring, in Winston Churchill's own words, 'symbol of aspiring peace, and the calm, bountiful and optimistic image of a Dove'. Peace is emphasised, too, in the edge inscription, 1945 IN PEACE GOODWILL 1995, part of the well-known 'moral' that preface Churchill's history of the Second World War. The obverse features Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Her majesty the Queen.
