An IR light barrier consists of a transmitter that emits invisible IR (infrared) light and a receiver that registers this light. If the light barrier is interrupted, this is evaluated by the receiver. Since light barriers work with very small currents, they can only be used in conjunction with articles that have the required receiving electronics (e.g. Busch 5963 time switch or 5740 electronic relay). Since the light barriers are used for contactless switching, the result is maximum reliability with an almost unlimited service life.
