This is a single full page
published over 140 years ago
in the August, 1879, issue of the
American Agriculturist
, a monthly periodical mostly devoted to articles of interest to farmers. It is in excellent condition, with one short tear in its blank bottom edge margin, and measures 9x12 inches in size.
Taking up the left 2/3rds of the page (measuring 5x11 inches) is an ad offering readers of the
Agriculturist
a variety of the finest firearms then available. The publisher of the paper announces:
“SPORTSMEN, ATTENTION!
SOMETHING IN WHICH YOU ARE ALL INTERESTED
“The gunning season is close at hand, and in order to supply our many readers and sportsmen with the very best Fire Arms that can be had in the market, we have made arrangements with the justly celebrated E. Remington & Sons to furnish any of their Arms, at the very lowest prices.”
Below this heading are details of some of the guns offered, illustrated with nice woodcuts of 3 of the guns (a Double-Barreled Breech-Loading Shot-Gun; a Winchester Rifle; and a No. 1 Long Range Creedmor Rifle), plus a woodcut of a man prone on his back, target shooting which cradling the barrel of his rifle between his knees.
The ad offers 4 versions each of the Winchester Models ‘66, ‘73, and ‘76, at prices from -, under a blurb calling it:

UNEQUALED FOR RAPIDITY AND ACCURACY IN FIRING
WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.
Three Remington Creedmor Rifles are offered, with prices going up to 0 for the top model.
